Valdarno di Sopra is a historic Tuscan wine region located in the Arno valley, west of Arezzo and south of Florence. Established as a proto-appellation in 1716 by Grand Duke Cosimo III, it offers a distinct interpretation of Sangiovese alongside international varieties. The area covers just 58 hectares of vineyards. Today, it operates as a modern DOC since 2011, though it remains less known than Chianti Classico or Brunello di Montalcino.[1]

Il Borro stands as a prominent project in this region, combining hotel, restaurant, and winery operations under the management of Salvatore Ferragamo, the grandson of the famous fashion designer. These wines have reached Poland through the importer Koneser Win. A specific bottling, the 2020 Polissena, presents a mature, concentrated Sangiovese with flavors of sour cherries and excellent acidity. The wine features well-structured tannins and is designed to pair with classic regional dishes like Florentine beefsteak.[1]
