Competitors at the Kolbászfesztivál in Csaba, Hungary, prepare sausages using their own traditional hand-grinders and stuffing machines. Participants bring necessary spices and tools such as knives and cutting boards to the site. The organizers provide cleaned casings for the teams, but there is no electricity or hot water available on the grounds. Teams must wear aprons or hats if they choose to do so, though these items are not mandatory.[1]

Judges assess the sausage-making process, the raw appearance of the sausage, the flavor and texture of the cooked product, and the table decoration. Each team submits one 30 cm sausage for evaluation alongside the return of their container at the meat distribution point. Any sausages not submitted for judging remain the property of the teams but cannot be cooked at the festival grounds due to fire and hygiene regulations. All containers must be returned to the distribution point by 12:00 after the competition concludes.[1]
